New public holiday from 2026

From 2026, there will be a new public holiday in the Seychelles: February 1.


The Cabinet has approved the designation of 1 February as a national public holiday, to be known as Abolition of Slavery Day, marking the formal end of slavery in Seychelles and recognising the enduring legacy of those whose lives and labour shaped the nation.
