What is LATAB?
LATAB is a nonprofit nongovernmental organization (NGO) in the Seychelles that collects food and distributes it free of charge to people in need in the Seychelles – inspired by "DIE TAFEL" in Germany.
How does it work?
Supermarkets and corporate partners donate goods they can no longer sell. These are packed into reusable cloth bags and handed out for free at regular distribution points across the islands.

You are warmly welcome to help – by packing bags, joining a distribution, or simply making a monetary donation through this website.
The concept
At the heart of LATAB is a simple idea: a cloth bag filled with the essentials.
Food that can no longer be sold in supermarkets comes to us – and from us, directly to the people who need it most. Partnerships with local businesses and supermarkets form the backbone of the project, supported by donations made through our website.
Community members can also take an active role by filling bags for their neighbours in need.
What's inside?
Every LATAB bag is filled with staple foods that can feed one or more people for several days.
The exact contents may vary depending on the donations received by our partners. Here is an example of what’s inside:
Rice
Lentils
Pasta
Canned tuna
Canned beans
Canned sausages
Onions
Garlic
Things that typically DO NOT belong in our bags:
Alcohol and tobacco
Products that have already been opened
Severely damaged packaging
Frozen goods
Fresh meat or fish (hygiene, shelf life)
Products past their best-by date that are no longer safe to eat – there is a subtle distinction here: Supermarkets are not allowed to sell goods past their best-by date, but they can often still be eaten without concern.

About Us
Behind LATAB is a small group of people who share one common belief: that no one should go hungry. We are German expats and Seychellois – united by the idea that even with limited resources, we can make a big difference.

Our members live on Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue – exactly where the food bags are delivered. We know the islands, we know the people, and we know where help is needed.
LATAB isn’t a big organization. It’s neighborly help – organized, reliable, and from the heart.
